Considerazioni su fotografia e cultura fotografica

La descrizione del procedimento di stampa al carbone, quasi
certamente  tra  i  pił difficili da eseguire  tra  quelli
conosciuti  e  praticati nella storia della fotografia,  ma
anche  il  pił  prezioso e raffinato per i  risultati  che
permetteva  di  ottenere  nella  riproduzione  delle  opere
d'arte,  rappresenta  l'occasione per  fare  un  confronto,
tecnico  e  culturale,  tra  l'epoca  che  vide  affermarsi
l'attivitą    dello   Stabilimento   Brogi    alla    fine
dell'Ottocento  e  quella  attuale  dominata  dall'immagine
elettronica.


The  description  of the carbon printing procedure,  almost
certainly amongst the most difficult to accomplish  between
those  techniques  known and practised in  the  history  of
photography, is also the most precious and refined for  the
high results that it was able to obtain in the reproduction
of  artworks. This gives us an accasion to make a technical
and  cultural comparison between the firm at the end of the
Eighteen  Hundreds when it made a name for itself and  this
epoch which is dominated by the electronic image.
